Terms of Service

Effective November 11, 2026Last updated November 11, 2026

The short version

  • Contamos helps you track and plan your money. It is not a bank, and it does not give financial, investment, tax or legal advice.
  • Bank connections run through Plaid. Data from banks can be late, missing or miscategorized, so check anything important with your bank.
  • When you share a household, the people in it can see its shared data. Only invite people you trust, and only link accounts you're allowed to share.
  • Any paid plans are billed by Apple through your Apple ID, and you cancel or ask for refunds through Apple.

This summary is for convenience. The full terms below are what apply.

1. Agreeing to these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and NexGen PC Logic LLC ("Contamos," "we," "us" or "our"). They cover the Contamos iPhone app, including beta versions distributed through TestFlight (the "App"), the website at getcontamos.com (the "Site"), and any related services we provide (together, the "Service").

By creating an account, joining a household or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. The Service is intended for people in the United States. If you use it from somewhere else, you're responsible for following local laws.

2. What Contamos is, and isn't

Contamos is a personal and household budgeting tool. It lets you view account balances and transactions, set budgets and goals, track bills and cards, and see estimates such as cash-flow forecasts, payoff plans and retirement projections.

Not financial advice. Contamos is an informational tool only. We are not a bank, credit union, money transmitter, broker-dealer, registered investment adviser, financial planner, tax preparer, accountant, credit counselor or law firm, and we don't act as a fiduciary for you. Nothing in the Service is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security or financial product, or to take any particular financial, tax or legal action.

Forecasts, "safe to spend" amounts, payoff plans, retirement projections and similar figures are estimates based on the data available to the App and on assumptions that may not hold. They can be wrong. Actual balances, interest, fees, returns and outcomes will differ. Before you make an important decision, confirm the numbers with your financial institution and consider talking to a qualified professional.

Contamos doesn't hold, move or transfer your money, pay your bills, or make payments for you. Bill and payment reminders are a convenience; you remain responsible for paying on time.

3. Your account and its security

You sign up with an email address and password. You agree to give accurate information and keep it up to date.

You're responsible for everything that happens under your account and for keeping your password, devices and Apple ID secure. Tell us right away at security@getcontamos.com if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.

Don't share your login with anyone. To give someone access to household data, invite them to your household so they have their own account.

4. Bank connections and Plaid

How connections work

To import accounts and transactions automatically, Contamos uses Plaid Inc. ("Plaid"). When you link an account, you sign in to your financial institution through Plaid's interface. Your bank username and password go to Plaid and your institution, not to us. Contamos receives information such as account names, types, the last few digits of account numbers, balances, and transaction details.

Your authorization

By linking an account, you grant Contamos and Plaid the right, power and authority to act on your behalf to access and transmit your personal and financial information from the relevant financial institution. You agree to your personal and financial information being transferred, stored and processed by Plaid in accordance with the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.

You may link only accounts that you own or are legally authorized to access. If you link an account into a shared household, you confirm that you're allowed to share that account's information with the household's members.

Accuracy and availability

Data from financial institutions comes to us through Plaid and the institutions themselves, which we don't control. Connections can stop working or need to be re-authorized, for example after a password change, a security update at your bank, or an outage. Balances and transactions may be delayed, incomplete, duplicated or wrong, and automatic categories may not match how you'd classify a purchase.

We work to keep connections reliable, but we don't guarantee that any institution will be supported, that a connection will stay active, or that imported data will be accurate, complete or current. To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not responsible for losses that come from connection interruptions, delayed or inaccurate institution data, or miscategorization. Your financial institution's records are the official record of your accounts.

Disconnecting

The person who linked an institution, or the household's owner or an administrator, can disconnect it in the App's settings at any time. Disconnecting revokes the connection at Plaid and deletes the accounts from that connection, along with their imported transactions, as described in the Privacy Policy. If you linked an institution and later left the household, you can still disconnect it to stop sharing with Plaid; in that case the household keeps the history it already has.

5. Households and shared access

Sharing is the point

A household is a shared space for two or more people. When you join a household, the household's members can see the accounts, balances, transactions, budgets, bills, goals, notes and other information that has been shared with it, including information you add. Data that the App lets you mark as private is visible only to you, subject to the limits described in the App. Only invite people you trust, and only add information you're comfortable sharing with every member.

Owners and administrators

The person who creates a household is its owner. The owner, and any member the owner gives administrator rights, can invite people, change household settings and remove members, and, where the App supports it, approve or decline requests to join and transfer ownership to another member. Owners and administrators agree to use these powers responsibly and lawfully.

Invitations

Treat your household's invite code like a key: anyone who has it may be able to join. Don't post it publicly. If it's shared by mistake, contact us and we'll replace it.

Leaving or being removed

You can leave a household at any time, using the App where it offers that option or by contacting us. An owner or administrator can also remove a member. When a member leaves or is removed, their access to the household's data ends. Bank connections the member linked, and the accounts those connections brought into the household, may leave with them, along with their transactions. Entries the member added by hand to shared accounts, budgets, bills and goals generally stay with the household.

If an owner deletes a household, every member loses access to it, and its data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.

Disagreements between members

We provide the tools to share; we can't referee disputes between household members about money, access or data. We may, but aren't required to, help resolve access problems, and we'll act consistently with these Terms and the law.

6. Subscriptions, trials and billing

Contamos is free during its beta. We may later offer paid subscriptions or other paid features ("Paid Plans"). If we do, this section applies.

Billing through Apple

Paid Plans bought in the App are sold through Apple's App Store using in-app purchase. Apple charges your Apple ID and handles payment. The price, billing period and the features and limits of each plan are shown in the App before you buy.

Automatic renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your iPhone's Settings under your name, then Subscriptions. Deleting the App doesn't cancel a subscription.

Free trials

If a Paid Plan includes a free trial, it converts to a paid subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before then. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.

Refunds

Because Apple processes payments, refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds for App Store purchases directly. If you cancel, you keep access to the Paid Plan until the end of the period you've paid for.

Changes to plans and prices

We may change what a plan includes, its limits or its price. We'll give you advance notice of a price increase for an active subscription as Apple requires, and Apple may ask you to agree to it before your subscription renews at the new price. If you go back to a free plan, some features may stop working, and data that exceeds the free plan's limits may become read-only, but we won't delete it because of the change.

7. Beta versions

Versions of the App distributed through TestFlight, or labeled beta or preview, are pre-release software. They may have bugs, change or lose features, and be less reliable than a final release. We may reset, migrate or (with notice where practical) remove beta data. If you send us feedback, screenshots or crash reports through TestFlight or otherwise, you agree that we may use them to improve the Service without owing you anything.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • access accounts, data or households you aren't authorized to access, or link financial accounts you don't have the right to use;
  • use the Service to harass, monitor or control another person, or to commit fraud or any other illegal act;
  • probe, scan or test the Service's security except as allowed by our responsible disclosure policy, or bypass any security or access control;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or copy the App, except where the law expressly allows it;
  • use bots, scrapers or automated means to access the Service, or put an unreasonable load on it;
  • upload malware or content that infringes someone else's rights; or
  • resell, sublicense or offer the Service to others as your own product.

9. Your data and content

You keep ownership of the information you put into the Service, such as manual transactions, notes, budgets, goals and photos ("Your Content"). You give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, copy, display and transmit Your Content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the Service for you and your household, and as described in the Privacy Policy. This license ends when Your Content is deleted from our systems, except for copies we must keep by law or that remain in backups for a limited time.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use your financial data for advertising.

10. Our intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, icons and the Contamos name and logo, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by Apple's Usage Rules. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

11. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties, including Apple (App Store, TestFlight and push notifications), Plaid (bank connections) and our cloud hosting and database providers. Your use of their services may be governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We aren't responsible for third-party services we don't control, and links to third-party sites don't mean we endorse them.

12. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account as described on our Support page.

We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if your use creates risk or possible legal exposure for us, other users or our providers, if we're required to by law, or if we stop offering the Service. Where reasonable, we'll tell you in advance and give you a chance to export your data. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including Sections 2, 4 (Accuracy and availability), 9, 10 and 13 through 17, will survive.

13. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy and quiet enjoyment. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that data from financial institutions will be accurate, complete or timely, or that any forecast or estimate will be correct.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither Contamos nor its owners, employees, agents or suppliers will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or overdraft, late or other fees, arising out of or related to the Service, even if we've been told such damages are possible. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).

These limits apply to every theory of liability and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose. They don't limit liability that can't be limited under applicable law, such as for gross negligence, willful misconduct or fraud, where the law doesn't allow it.

15. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Contamos and its owners, employees and agents from claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms or of anyone else's rights, or your linking or sharing of financial accounts you weren't authorized to link or share.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

If you have a concern, please contact us first at legal@getcontamos.com. We'll try in good faith to resolve it informally within 30 days. If we can't, either of us may bring a claim in the state or federal courts located in Orange County, Florida, and we each consent to their jurisdiction. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.

17. Terms for the App Store version

If you got the App from Apple's App Store or TestFlight, the following also applies:

  • These Terms are between you and us only, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the App and its content.
  • Your license to the App is limited to use on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that the App may be accessed by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
  • If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the App. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the App, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses due to a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility, to the extent they can't be disclaimed under these Terms.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the App or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
  • If a third party claims that the App or your possession and use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of that claim.
  • You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you're not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using the App.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and once you accept them, Apple has the right (and is deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we'll let you know in the App or by email before it takes effect. The "Last updated" date above shows when they last changed. If you keep using the Service after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you don't agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a provision isn't a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
